Statues in the
Archways
Akhundov
National Library
Photo: Famous maestro Niyazi
featured in the Akhundov Library archways.
So many statues (especially those of Lenin, Stalin and Kirov)
were dismantled in Azerbaijan upon the collapse of the Soviet
Union. But the 15 replicas standing in the arches of the Akhundov
National Library are the same originals that graced the balconies
when the building was constructed nearly 50 years ago. These
individuals are still revered today as having made some of the
greatest contributions to the cultural development of society.
All figures are Azerbaijanis unless designated.
