This
residence was built in 1910-1912. As the house was located near
the Old Cemetery, one of Sadikhov's friends complained to him:
"You've chosen a very bad place and spent your money stupidly."
Sadikhov replied: "Don't be fooled. This is a fine place.
The Governor has established a garden for me right under the
windows of my home." The Sadikhov residence combines
both Moorish and Azerbaijani architectural elements. This building
is not mentioned in the novel but obviously was a well-known
landmark at that time. |
