French Embassy

Roland Blatmann is the new French Ambassador to Azerbaijan, replacing Ms. Chantal Poiret. Blatmann presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev on July 12, 2004. A career diplomat, he has served in France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1983-1984), the Cabinet of the Prime Minister (1984-1986) and as a Chief of the Department on Decentralized and Non-Governmental Cooperation.

He has foreign diplomatic experience in various countries including Spain, Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg), Ukraine, Morocco, Italy and Greece.

Blatmann has been honored with Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Mérite (1988) and Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur (1999). This is his first assignment as an Ambassador.
