Within
the courtyard of the pir, a line has been suspended between grapevines
and the wall near the camel. People tie small strips of cloth
to the line to physically represent their problems in life. Women
seeking to get pregnant often make a matchbox or a small kerchief
and shape it to resemble a baby's cradle and hang it there on
the line. Photo: Betty Blair
