Chapel Iconography

In Autumn 2006, the paintings were completed in the Chapel of Apostle Varfolomey at St Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Church in Baku. Yelena Hagverdiyeva (the blonde, seated, second from left) undertook to finish the work that her husband Ujal left undone when he died in 2004. Ujal had already worked four years on the project.

Here Yelena is joined by the hard-working team that helped her. Her assistants included: Tamerlan Karimov, Inna Bashirova, Gunay Shamsiyeva, Butunay Hagverdiyev, Aydin Baghirov, Anna Pavlicheva, Fuad Asgarov, Victoria Anikina and Inna Kostina.
