Ramco Finds Oil at Muradkhanli

Ramco's Muradkhanli appraisal well, MOC-01, reached its final depth of 4,567 meters on March 24, 2000. The company is preparing to commence a program of production testing in order to assess the results.

Production will be handled using existing field pipeline, processing and storage facilities, which have been upgraded and extended to the MOC-01 location.

Ramco spudded the MOC-01 well, on the Muradkhanli field, on January 11, 2000; it was the first well to be drilled onshore Azerbaijan under a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA). Ramco signed the contract for the field in July 1998. Ramco's feasibility study concluded that there could be as much as 5 billion barrels of oil in place.

The Muradkhanli field, discovered in 1969, is 110 miles southwest of Baku and covers 565 sq km. The field is located 55km south of AIOC's western pipeline route, and currently utilizes an oil loading terminal on the railway that links Baku to Poti and Batumi on the Georgian Black Sea coast. Ramco has a 50 percent interest in the Muradkhanli, Jafarli and Zardab fields; SOCAR has the remaining 50 percent interest.
